Gardeners’ village in Launagiai district

The key principle of the urban-architectural idea is to create a unique and different urban structure of the Gardeners’ village, which allows natural nature to blend into the environment.

The concept of a gardener's village is evident in both the architectural design and the multifunctional community spaces. New public and shared areas are being developed for the entire community, as well as for visitors from the surrounding districts. Plans include the creation of a Family Park, a green pedestrian alley, and several public squares. The private inner courtyards of the residential areas are separated by greenery, fostering a more intimate atmosphere with children's playgrounds, gardening areas, and places for leisure. To enrich life in the new town, a hierarchy of public spaces and direct visual connections between them have been proposed.

Masterplan vision for Gardeners’ village

The design of a Family park is using functional islands and paths to frame the existing arrays of birches, willows and aspens. Functional activity islands include leisure, play and sports areas with an urban water pond and pavilion in the middle of the park. The main functional zones of the park are concentrated in the central part, where there are no trees at the moment.

Main public space - park with play, sports and other family activities between existing arrays of trees
With this project we are promoting to propose to strengthen biodiversity in a range of ways.

  • A natural rainwater irrigation system is being developed, it collects rainwater from the roofs and directs it to the formed outdoor water bodies, such as bioswales, ponds, collects water for gardening. Insects, birds and other mamals begin to develop near these wetlands, contributing to increasing biodiversity.
  • Biodiversity-promoting elements are offered: sparrow terrace, bird bath, insect hotels, flowering meadows, biodiversity forest, rock piles, mud houses for arachnids and lizards, bundles of tree branches for insects.
  • All pedestrian paths are from a waterproof paving.
