Vision for the future of Lukiškės prison

The government together with the municipality of Vilnius has organized an intense workshop to rethink what could the former prison become. We together with many other specialists have participated in creating an urban redevelopment strategy to envision a new future for the territory. Prison should become a place for many functions such as: education, short-term residential, retreat cells, co-creative offices, food hub, cultural event space.

Lukiškės Prison was a prison in the center of Vilnius, Lithuania, near the Lukiškės Square. As of 2007, it housed approximately 1,000 prisoners and employed around 250 prison guards. Today it’s completely empty and looking for ways to reinvent itself.
