Alongside the new Panevėžys city strategic plan, the sustainable development strategy creates opportunities to territorially localize the city’s sustainable development ideas and potential projects. In cooperation with the Panevėžys City Municipality, creative workshops were organized, a multi-layered analysis of the city was conducted, a public survey was carried out, and an urban vision for the city was formed, promoting the further sustainable development of Panevėžys.

The strategy provides that the future development of Panevėžys city shall shape it as a sustainable, open, inclusive, compact, safe, and viable urban center for economic growth, cultural, and social life. Priority city development projects have been identified, such as: the development of the Panevėžys city bus station, the integration of Rail Baltica tracks into the urban fabric, the creation of a public space in the Molainiai filtration fields, and others.
