The Klaipėda State University of Applied Sciences complex is being transformed into a modern, integrated academic hub characterized by sustainable pedestrian connectivity and functional openness. The expansion planned for 2026 encompasses not only a new laboratory extension but the urban revitalization of the entire territory, creating a representative and vibrant landmark for the city
“Through this project, we are transforming the historic territory of Klaipėda State University of Applied Sciences (KVK) into a cohesive and open academic campus. Our goal is to overcome spatial fragmentation and activate the ‘green link’ of Birutė Street, where academic functions harmoniously blend with community needs, leisure, and culture.
The architectural centerpiece of this vision is a new three-story laboratory extension featuring a light-filled atrium, which completes the block’s perimeter structure. The building is designed with openness in mind: the ground floor is dedicated to public functions (library, café), while the upper levels house modern science facilities, simultaneously creating vibrant inner courtyards and terraces.
The expansion planned for 2026 will not only modernize the academic infrastructure but also establish new pedestrian and cycling connectivity to the city center. This transformation will turn the college into a sustainable hub where scientific progress organically integrates into the rhythm of Klaipėda’s urban life.”
