To find a balance between Palanga’s historical heritage and contemporary stylistics, the goal was set to renew the lighting on Basanavičiaus Street, avoiding imitation of the past and instead seeking a solution that bridges different time periods.
During the creative process, various luminaire forms were examined—from traditional ornate designs to modernist and contemporary ornamental ones. Ultimately, six-meter-high poles were chosen, adorned with a special ornament associated with elements from old villas. Great attention was paid to detail: different shades were selected (sand-colored on the bridge, darker at the beginning of the street) and vertical lighting was integrated into the pole itself, creating an impression of lightness and adding coziness at night.
The final result is considered exceptionally successful. Although they are just light fixtures, they have fundamentally changed the appearance of Basanavičiaus Street, giving it more tranquility and subtlety. In addition to the aesthetic change, a sustainability goal was also achieved: the new lighting is energy-efficient, and more than 80% recycled aluminum was used in the production of the fixtures themselves.
